In most cases you have the option to include an AmericaShare visit on the last day of your safari. For more details please speak to a Micato Safaris Specialist at 1-800-MICATO-1 before your departure or your Safari Director upon arrival in Kenya.

Most of Micato’s East Africa safari programmes will allow enough time to visit an AmericaShare project. If you are booked on the Grand Safari and Hemingway Wing Safari programme, a one night extension is necessary in order to incorporate a visit. For details, please speak to a Micato Safaris Specialist by calling 1-800-MICATO-1.

There is no charge to visit an AmericaShare project. If visiting requires an extension of your stay (on a Grand Safari and Hemingway Wing Safari, for example) you will be charged for the extra night’s accommodations. Please contact a Micato Safaris Specialist at 1-800-MICATO-1 for more details.

How long is the visit?

The visit, including transportation, usually takes three to four hours.

You can sing, dance, play and talk to the young people. Just enjoy each other’s company, and help provide a window to the larger world. Most importantly, you can show them how much people care about them.

No. Given the additional baggage restrictions on airlines, we no longer send duffle bags to travellers. However, we do provide travellers with an opportunity to purchase needed items locally and bring them on their visit.

We suggest children’s vitamins, school supplies, educational workbooks, classic fictional books and deflated soccer balls.

We try to avoid a situation where the gift recipients become beggars, and giving gifts in this way can lead to such a scenario. We suggest that you speak to your Safari Director before your visit about dropping by a local supermarket. You can purchase treats like juice, fruits and biscuits for the children.

We regret that this is not possible. Based on experience, we have found that it is best to match children with sponsors based on the child’s need.

Presently, we do not have a volunteer programme. However, if you contact us we can provide you with information on partner organizations that have volunteer programmes in Nairobi.
